Rangers Score Highest TV Rating in 12 Years

We always love to point to a story from Neil Best of Newsday:

Monday night’s Capitals-Rangers game was watched by an average of 2.72 percent of New York-area homes, the highest-rated Rangers game on MSG since April 22, 1997, when a first-round playoff game against the Panthers averaged 3.04 percent.

This doesn’t make a ton of sense to me.  The Rangers moved all the way to the Conference Finals in that year.  So none of the games MSG broadcast in Round 2 against the Devils drew higher ratings than a first-round game vs. Florida?  That’s really the only question I have here.  Otherwise, yay Cablevision.
