Move to VERSUS Affects Chicago Ratings Negatively

The ratings for Game #3 of the Stanley Cup Final on VERSUS showed ratings well down from Game #2 in the nation’s #3 TV market, but up from Game #1.

The game, which the Blackhawks lost 4-3 in Overtime, scored a still strong 17.6 overnight rating for VERSUS in the market, averaging more than 618,000 households.  This is down 30% from the 25.1 rating NBC drew in Chicago for Monday night’s Game #2 broadcast.  It is up 5% from the 16.8 rating for Game #1 on NBC.  It is also up 35% from the previous high for VERSUS ratings in Chicago, an 11.5 for Game #3 of the Western Conference Final vs. San Jose.

During the series, the Chicago market has averaged a 19.8 rating for the series.

    oh my goodness, the local rating went down for a channel that’s in less homes and less of a profile of NBC. Call me shocked.

    Not even sure how they can come up with a number when the channel is not even available to many homes. This data does show that the long holiday weekend hurt Game 1 ratings on Sat nite

      I think what hurt game 1 was the competition for younger viewers. There was an NBA game and UFC 114 on at virtually the same time. Loyalties were split between the three games/events.

      Just to note, Game 6 of the SCF is on the same night as game 2 of the NBA Finals.
