Mike Milbury Returns to VERSUS Studio Tonight

So it turns out the amount of time NBC/CBC hockey analyst Mike Milbury will sit out ends up at about nine days.

After taking a leave of absence from his work on both networks (though his deal with CBC runs out after the calendar hits 2012) due to potential assault charges against a minor at a hockey game (though it was eventually determined there was not enough evidence to charge him) Milbury will return to VERSUS’ studio tonight, on NHL Live‘s pre- and post-game coverage of the St. Louis/Detroit game, according to a source.

Milbury will also appear on CBC this Saturday, in what will be his final appearance on the network, as well as NBC’s coverage of the Winter Classic on Monday, where he’ll work the network’s studio show with Bob Costas and Jeremy Roenick. Roenick, Eddie Olczyk and Pierre McGuire had substituted for Milbury on VERSUS during his absence.

Please note. Mike was not “cleared of charges.” After assessing the situation, there was “not enough evidence to criminally charge him.” Remember, there is a difference between being cleared of charges and not being charged to begin with.

Of all the people to get in trouble, and then not get in trouble. You’d think NBC would wise up and realize hockey fans hate him, and that his destruction of a once great franchise really means he can’t be taken seriously. Then again this is the same NBC that hired Matt Millen as an analyst within weeks of him finally being fired by the Lions.
