Sabres With Unusual TV Arrangement

Monday is usually our local TV day.  So our update comes from the Buffalo Sabres, who have made an interesting commitment to airing games:

The 41 home games that will air on MSG (39) and Versus (2) will be broadcast in HD (MSG will be in HD in the Buffalo and Rochester markets on Time Warner Cable and DirecTV). There will also be 12 road games shown in HD this season: five on Versus, and an additional six New York-area road telecasts against the Rangers, Devils and Islanders on MSG. The Sabres also currently appear on NBC’s flex schedule for March 21 at Carolina.

For the six New York-area HD games, fans will be able to hear the Sabres’ broadcast team of Rick Jeanneret and Harry Neale, with the production originating from the local MSG crew in HD.

Very interesting that they’re this committed to getting more games broadcast and in HD.  Last year, Buffalo underestimated their fans commitment by trying to have three games go un-televised, but this year they’re responding to that passion by getting more games in HD.

One Response to Sabres With Unusual TV Arrangement

  1. Kevin says:

Those 4 games last season (at Edmonton, Calgary, Phoenix, and Anaheim) ended up being aired from the local stations or TSN in a late addition. Here in the Finger Lakes market, MSG ended up airing the end of the Knicks game that was on another channel before switching to the Sabres game.
