NBC Sports Group Broadcasts Five Straight Days of Hockey Starting with Hawks-Wings Saturday

NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 11, 2012) – The NBC Sports Group will air five NHL games over five days beginning with NBC’s first exclusive NHL Game of the Week when the Detroit Red Wings host the Chicago Blackhawks this Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET. The next night, the NBC Sports Network will air exclusive primetime coverage of the New York Rangers taking on the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m. ET.

The NBC Sports Network continues coverage on Mon., Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m. ET when the Dallas Stars face the St. Louis Blues and on Tues., Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. ET when the Nashville Predators take on the New York Rangers. The week concludes with exclusive coverage of the Buffalo Sabres against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wed., Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The team of Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk (analyst) and Pierre McGuire (‘Inside the Glass’ analyst) will call the action for NBC’s Sunday game and NBC Sports Network’s Wednesday night game. Emrick and McGuire will call Monday’s game in St. Louis.

Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Brian Engblom (‘Inside the Glass’ analyst) will serve as announcers for Sunday and Tuesday’s primetime coverage. Liam McHugh and analyst Mike Milbury will be in Detroit covering all the intermissions for NBC’s coverage. Additionally, McHugh hosts NHL Live, NBC Sports Network’s pre- and post-game studio show, and is joined by expert analysts Mike Milbury and Keith Jones.

Gary Thorne to Become Play-by-Play Voice of Pro Bowling Tour

Thorne will do play-by-play for the three remaining PBA majors beginning with the Alka-Seltzer Plus Liquid Gels United States Bowling Congress Masters later this month in Las Vegas, continuing with the U.S. Open in February and the Tournament of Champions in April. Stone will continue to work the remaining World Series of Bowling ESPN-taped telecasts this season and will also do play-by-play for Thursday’s taping of the Chris Paul Celebrity PBA Invitational presented by Sheets™ Brand in Los Angeles.

Hockey Day Minnesota to Be Dedicated to the Jablonski Family

SAINT PAUL/Minneapolis, Minn. – With the blessing of the Jablonski family, the Minnesota Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo today announced that the sixth annual Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 on Saturday, Jan. 21, will be dedicated to the family of Jack Jablonski, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s hockey player who suffered a spinal cord injury in a game last month.

The Wild, FOX Sports North and Wells Fargo will combine to host an all-day telethon as part of Hockey Day Minnesota, beginning at 9 a.m., raising money for the Jack Jablonski Trust Fund, which is set up through Wells Fargo. Operators will be at Xcel Energy Center standing by to take donations. Fans throughout the State of Hockey and beyond are encouraged to call the number on the screen to donate. Volunteers from the Benilde-St. Margaret’s School RED KNIGHT VOLUNTEER CORPS will be assisting with operating the phone bank.

In addition, there will be an online auction including Wild-related “experiences” such as lunch with General Manager Chuck Fletcher and Head Coach Mike Yeo, or a special night in the “Elite Seats” on the glass between the team benches, with proceeds going to the Jablonski family. More details on the experiences will be announced soon.

Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 on FOX Sports North, presented by Wells Fargo, will include over 16 hours of consecutive hockey-related programming designed as a celebration of the game from peewees to pros.

 

Lake Minnetonka and the city of Excelsior will serve as the background for the three outdoor high school games featured in the Hockey Day Minnesota 2012 line-up.
