NBC Apparently Picks Penguins/Capitals for January 22nd

No Sidney Crosby, no problem it appears for NBC when it comes to banking on the Penguins/Capitals rivalry.

The network, which begins flex scheduling a tad later this season after not one but two games set in stone (the Winter Classic and January 14th’s Blackhawks/Red Wings tilt were decided upon in August) will start said flexing with a January 22nd match-up between Pittsburgh and Washington, according to the network’s listings post. The other option available for the afternoon was a Bruins/Flyers game. Though typically, NBC’s non-flexed games will air in primetime later that day on NBC Sports Network, this will be the one case this season where it doesn’t happen.

The game between the Penguins and Capitals would air Sunday, January 22nd at 12:30 p.m. ET.
