As reported by many and confirmed to Puck the Media by the league, be on the lookout for the schedule tomorrow. We’ll post it, highlighting the Black Friday/Winter Classic/NBC stuff, and probably an HNIC template. Enjoy the NHL Awards, see you then.
I’m really curious to see what CBC does with “Hockey Day in Canada” now that their are 7 Canadian teams.
I would love to see them schedule a quadruple header with a game at 1, 4, 7 and 10. However, I think they will do a triple header and regionalize the early 3pm game. I do hope that Winnipeg is featured in the 7pm game.
TSN reporting Winnipeg’s first home game is Oct. 9 against Montreal. Guaranteed national TV in Canada, though no idea which network.
Yep. RDS!
Its a Sunday night. It’ll be on CBC. Phoenix’s home opener is “coincidentally” against Winnipeg on Saturday, October 15th. You can bet that will be the late game on HNIC.
If TSN is correct, and I’m not disputing their info, it’s too bad the Winnipeg Whoevers don’t start on a Saturday night. Even if they do start on a Sunday look for the game to be on the CBC.
As for Hockey Day in Canada, look for the NHL to schedule and original six team to provide the eighth team to make up the numbers. One year they used Detroit….
Here’s a report from the Winnipeg Free Press on their home opener.

There should be an entire Canadian division. Then Canada will be happy and we in the states won’t have to hear people whine about never seeing Edmonton on TV
