NHL Net to Preview the Conference Finals

NEW YORK/TORONTO (May 12, 2011) – NHL Network™ today announced its

coverage plans for the Conference Finals round of the 2011 Stanley Cup®

Playoffs, beginning with a special preview show on Friday, May 13.

NHL Network will host a one-hour NHL On The Fly: Conference Finals

Preview show from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. ET. Host David Amber will mediate an

all-goalie panel with regular contributor Kevin Weekes and special guest

analyst and Chicago Blackhawks netminder Marty Turco, who also will be

joining the NHL On The Fly cast throughout the Conference Finals.

NBC and VERSUS Have You Covered for the Conference Finals

NEW YORK (May 12, 2011)– The NBC Sports Group continues its wall-to-wall coverage of the 2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs as NBC, VERSUS and Comcast SportsNet showcase the Conference Finals, set to begin this Saturday. Before any third-round game can be played though, the last Conference Semifinal series will be decided with a highly-anticipated Game 7 on VERSUS tonight between Detroit and San Jose at 9 p.m. ET. Prior to the game, VERSUS will televise an extended, one-hour version of Hockey Central at 8 p.m. ET.

VERSUS will begin airing the Conference Finals with Game 1 of the Tampa Bay-Boston series this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. Western Conference Final action continues Sunday on VERSUS with the winner of the San Jose-Detroit series facing Vancouver at 8 p.m. ET. NBC’s coverage will begin on May 21, at 1:30 p.m. ET, with Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final when Tampa Bay hosts Boston.

VERSUS’ coverage of the Conference Finals is exclusive and not subject to any local blackouts. VERSUS will air all Conference Finals games for both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals with the exception of Games 4 for each series, which will air on NBC. NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2011 NHL Playoffs will culminate with exclusive coverage of the Stanley Cup Final in primetime in June with NBC broadcasting Games 1-2 and 5-7 (if necessary), and VERSUS presenting exclusive coverage of Games 3 and 4.

VERSUS To Bet on the Ponies This Summer

NBC and Versus will combine to televise eight hours of live coverage from Saratoga Race Course over seven weekends. The series, called “Summer at Saratoga,” starts July 23 with the Coaching Club American Oaks at 5 p.m. on NBC.

The big news is that the prestigious Travers Stakes will be televised by NBC Aug. 27 at 5 p.m. NBC will televise one other race, the Alabama Stakes on Aug. 20 at 5 p.m.

Versus will televise five races, starting July 30 with the Diana Stakes. On Aug. 6, it will have the Whitney Stakes. The other races on Versus are the Vanderbilt Stakes Aug. 7, the Sword Dancer Aug. 13 and the Woodward Stakes Sept. 3. Broadcasts coverage for those races starts at 5 p.m.

Peter Chiarelli is on The Bettman Hour Today

NEW YORK (May 12, 2011) – Boston Bruins general manager Peter

Chiarelli will be today’s guest on NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman

on NHL.com and SIRIUS XM Radio at 6 p.m. ET. The show, live from San

Jose’s HP Pavilion, will be co-hosted by the ‘Voice of the Sharks’, Dan

Rusanowsky.

Chiarelli, in his fifth year with the Bruins, has guided the team to

its fourth consecutive post-season, the team’s longest stretch since its

NHL-record span of 29 consecutive years from 1968-1996. The last time the

Bruins advanced to the Conference Final was in 1992 when they faced the

eventual Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

After sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers in their Conference Semifinal,

the fifth-seeded Bruins hold home ice advantage against the Tampa Bay

Lightning, a series that starts on Saturday, May 14 at TD Garden in Boston.

This is the first time the Lightning and Bruins will meet in a playoff

series.

NHL Hour with Commissioner Gary Bettman broadcasts live on Thursdays

from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET on NHL Home Ice (XM Channel 92 and on SIRIUS

Channel 207 as part of the “Best of XM” programming package) and NHL.com.

The show will re-air on SIRIUS XM Radio, with archived shows available for

download via podcast on NHL.com.
