NEW YORK (April 8, 2011) – The National Hockey League today announced the appointment of Ivan Gottesfeld as vice president of broadcasting. Reporting directly to Charles Coplin, NHL executive vice president of content, Gottesfeld will provide strategic oversight of national and regional broadcast partnerships to maximize content integration and opportunities for growth.

Gottesfeld also will supervise the game presentation of the NHL’s 30 member clubs, game presentation for League-controlled events, and ensure quality and consistency of the NHL marketing to fan’s in-arena experience.

An Emmy Award winning producer, Gottesfeld comes to the NHL with more than 25 years of experience in the broadcast industry. Most recently, he served as the executive producer of remote productions for Tupelo Honey Productions, where Gottesfeld oversaw productions for five Major League Soccer teams, Mountain West Conference Basketball, the Arena Football League Game of the Week, the Manchester United U.S. tour and the 2010 South American World Cup qualifiers.

While at Tupelo Honey, Gottesfeld also simultaneously served as the event presentation producer and director at the New Meadowlands Stadium for events including the New York Football Giants, NCAA College Football, International Soccer matches and NCAA Lacrosse and concerts.

“Ivan will play in a critical role in fan-facing NHL initiatives on television and in arenas,” said Charles Coplin, NHL Executive Vice President of Content. “He is a well-respected producer and director with a diverse sports background, and will be a unique asset for the NHL.”

With a passion for sports broadcasting, Gottesfeld began his career in production with jobs at NBC, NBA Entertainment, ABC, CBS, TBS/TNT, Fox and the NHL. In 1996, he joined MSG Networks as their coordinating producer and was later named vice president of production, managing annual live remotes and studio productions for MSG, Fox Sports New York, MSG Radio, and Gardenvision (MSG’s in-arena event presentation).
