Brian Engblom’s shirt/tie combo tonight is out of control. Look for a close-up. GQ disapproves.
The fact that Versus doesn’t have an alternate channel when games go into overtime is a problem.
Indeed. I also wonder–and admittedly it’s such a small thing–but once the first game ends, why must Versus dive right into a lengthy commercial break instead of switching straight to the 2nd game already in progress? You watch the NBA on any of its channels and I would never expect to see a delay if the 2nd game is already underway.
And by the way, Leafsfan, kudos to your optimism–the Center Ice schedule has been revised and now includes TV coverage for Games 3, 4, and 5 of SJ-COL. And after last night’s result, it’s especially important!
If they had switched right away they would have timed it perfectly. The puck was just dropping for VAN-LA as Versus was cutting away from the game in Washington to go to a commercial break. And lengthy indeed, I can see 1 or 2 but there was at least 5 commercials during the break!
The reality is Versus must make their money and without commercials that won’t happen. In fairness, they didn’t miss too much of the play last night and my it was nice to hear Jim Hughson. Now he is a model for how play by play should be done.
Agreed. Jim Hughson is the clear-cut best play-by-play in the NHL, 2nd is Chris Cuthbert.
