TSN will be using the Versus feed for the late game then, I guess?
The whole of idea of Versus not having exclusivity for the games it picks is so weird to me. Shouldn’t that be one of the main advantages of being the NHL’s cable broadcaster?
I think a big part of Versus not having exclusivity in the early rounds is that much of the local broadcast rights teams get is based on having playoff games. Local TV revenue brings in more money than the National. Even in the NBA local broadcasters still get to air the first two rounds (although the games aren’t blackedout for the National telecast, both compete with each other).
You have to protect the local rights holders who pay for the season and the first two rounds(with a few Versus games that are exclusive).
As was the case last year NHLCI is showing games in full that are being covered in part by Versus.
You can check their DirecTV schedule here…. [Other carriers may have a different schedule].

No Sharks-Avs game on Sunday on Center Ice, though; looking at the InDemand schedule (for cable Center Ice), the same goes for next Tuesday and Thursday. A few minutes on Versus will be all we get.
Oh, and one thing I really like about tonight’s schedule is the staggered start times. I can’t remember if they’ve done this in the past, but it just makes so much sense to have one game start at 7, another at 7:30, and then 10 and 10:30. It means that in all likelihood, no two games will go to intermission at the same time.
can we blast NHL Network US for not taking part in the playoff broadcasts? That’s kind of like a black eye on the NHL in this country when you can’t even find every playoff game.
I thought Versus was touting the other day that when games are blacked out for “local” markets, they would put on a substitute game?
Here in Ohio, where we are blacked out of the Penguins game (though unable to watch it on any network, thanks to idiotic blackout rules), the Flyers-Devils game is NOT on Versus. Instead there’s some crazed cagefighters going at it.
I have the Devils game on Center Ice (in SD), so it’s not a big deal for me, but I just kind of wish Versus would actually live up to their claims.
Those games could appear yet. The NHLCI schedule is done last minute in the playoffs…
Don’t blame the NHL Network. Blame the NHL.
Its really ashame NHLCI isn’t featuring any games from TSN or CBC. This all is a change from previous years where you were at least able to get either TSN or CBC for some games. And fans are missing out on the pre and post game info since Versus isn’t showing it. For example, CBC has post game interviews that was seen on NHL Network. But of course you dont get it on NHLCI.
