Following Markets to Miss Detroit/Pittsburgh Because of Evil Satan Robot

Because of Pat Robertson’s annual telethon (I guess it’s annual) some markets will miss the Penguins/Red Wings game on NBC Sunday. Those markets are:
WAVY 10 Norfolk
WBRE 28 Scranton
WDTN 2 Dayton
WVVA 6 Beckley-Bluefield
WSMV 4 Nashville
WVTM 13 Birmingham
KKCO 11 Grand Junction
Thanks to Tony from The Confluence for the info. Let me know via e-mail or comments if there are supplemental plans to show the game in these markets, perhaps on digital channels somewhere. If not, well, this is pretty bad to see 1 NHL market and the AHL market of one of the teams playing (including Dayton, OH, which likely has some Penguins followers) not carry the game. We’ll see.
Good for you to show your disgust for Pat Robertson in such a clever and ingenious way.
The loss of the markets you mentioned will set the NHL marketing plans back a good ten years. What right has Robertson to preempt such an important 1/82nd of the season for these two teams? None!
Scranton? Aren’t they in the Penguins viewing area? There are gonna be pissed off people in Scranton tomorrow. Namely Dwight Schrute.
Ugh, here we go again. More of NBC allowing their affiliates to dump hockey with no backup plans.
Here in Ohio, in the Cleveland viewing area, it’s worse–Indians games are aired on the NBC station on Sunday afternoons, meaning games in April and May, playoff games, are not showed with no contingency plans. Looking at the schedule now, this will be the case on April 18, May 2, May 16, and May 23.
Of course, NBC does NOT allow local stations to do this for the Players Championship golf tournament (this year on May 9). It’s little kinds of disrespect like this that drive me crazy (and will make me happy to be out of this specific market in a year or so) about the NHL and NBC. And from my experience last year, they won’t change things up because if the Indians games go only 3 hours, there might be 15 minutes or so of the hockey game left to air–no switch to Center Ice or another station.
Move to Canada! 😛 We have 2 NBC channels (Boston and Seattle) plus all NBC games are usually on TSN or TSN2.
I have no interest in Pat Robertson but I’m not sure that taking shots at him is helpful.
Pat Robertson = RATINGS….NHL = NO RATINGS
