I’m looking forward to the day long celebration of the game. And, it sure would be nice if my Maple Leafs could pull out a win for a change… 🙂
I love Hockey Day in Canada. Something new this year, it’s a good idea, right now on CBCSports.ca, they are not only streaming the main Hockey Day telecast, but also live video from the other locations featured today, like the pond hockey tournament on Rideau Canal in Ottawa, and also in St Johns, Newfoundland and Gimli, Manitoba.
The only problem I have with HDIC, is it’s always Leafs/Canucks at 7pm. I know, the 2 largest English markets in Canada, but CBC could mix it up year-to-year. Next year, I’d like this: 3pm ET/1pm MT – Ottawa at Edmonton, 7pm ET – Toronto at Montreal, 10pm ET/7pm PT – Calgary at Vancouver.
In 2009, it was Ott-Mon afternoon, Van-Tor at 7PM, Cal-Edm 10PM
In 2008, it was Det @ Tor in the afternoon, Ott-Mon & Cal-Edm @ 7, Phx @ Van 10PM
In 2007, it was Ott-Mon afternoon, Van-Tor at 7PM, Cal-Edm 10PM.
In 2006, it was Ott-Mon afternoon, Tor-Edm 7PM, Van-Cal 10PM
So, since the lockout, 60% of the time it was Van-Tor @ 7; 40% of the time it wasn’t.
Kudos to the NHL network for showing this. Before the advent of the NHL network hockey fans had to hold their breath to see if NHLCI would pick it up and if they did would they show the whole package. So, thanks to the CBC and the NHL network. As a Canadian living in the States it is making me just a little homesick…
The small-town hockey stories or hearing ”Tim Hortons” every 5 seconds as sponsor? 😛
Yeah, I could never miss HDIC, definately a must watch for every Canadian, and every hockey fan in the US every year.
Makes me wish there were more Tim Horton’s outfits in the States… 😦
Guy Carbonneau has just gotta go – it’s not working out.
