Don Cherry Disses Inside the Glass

We’re taking Columbus Day off (save for open thread if we get the announcers for tonight’s game) but let us know if you think Cherry has a point or is just babbling.

I think Cherry MAY have a point.

For some parts of the game being able to see the play from above certainly gives a better perspective. The Pens goal he refers to was off side and NONE of the HN IC people caught it until the intermission.

For me it depends very much on who is doing the “between the glass” feature. Some of the guys who do it add to the broadcasts, others do not.

At times, it can get annoying. Especially with Pierre McGuire, who thinks he invented the game. He interrupts the broadcast teams too much. I thought it was amusing that Grapes dissed TSN.

Seems to me that it should be used solely when there is a three-man announcing team. When teams use it for local broadcasts, like the Pens are doing now for home games, it seems sort of limiting and can break up the continuity between broadcasters.

I could listen to Don Cherry talk hockey anytime. He is insightful, clever and could give a rat’s arse what anybody thinks, because he speaks the truth, as he sees it. God Bless “em.
