VERSUS Goes Dark at DirecTV, Offers Up 64 People Who Visit Their Website a Chance to Speak Out

In lieu of the music I usually play at this time of morning, here is a link to VERSUS’ “call to arms” to get their viewers to hassle DirecTV, which dropped the channel last night, to bring VERSUS back to your airwaves.  DirecTV is reported as shaking in their boots.

I have DirecTV and I’m siding with them on this one. Comcast is asking way too much for this one channel! Since I’m getting Center Ice regardless doesn’t bother me much! Why even worry about crappy coverage when local networks do a better job in their coverage!

I’m mostly with DirecTV on this as well. The problem is that come playoff time Versus is pretty much the only game in town.

I’d love to know if the NHL is prepared to put any pressure on Comcast on this one. I’m not holding my breath as Comcast owns the Flyers and are simply trying to force hockey fans to ditch DirecTV in favour of cable. If I were to switch it would certainly not be to Comcast….

I would agree with you there and I would think before this even gets more than a month into the season there will be some kind of resolution, I just don’t see this being drawn out forever. The NHL and to an extent IndyCar as well really need Versus to be accessible to as many people as possible.

I hope you are right but don’t hold your breath. This is all about two big companies fighting over money. I’d also not hold my breath that the NHL will do anything other than keep their mouths shut. Don’t forget that Comcast is part of the NHL “old boys club”.
