Canucks and Blackhawks meet in Western Conference Semifinal beginning April 30;
Washington and Pittsburgh face-off in Eastern Conference Semifinal beginning May 2
 
Bring on Round Two! CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA – the country’s only home to the Stanley Cup for 56 years – continues to provide Canadians with the best match-ups from the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs with coverage of the Vancouver Canucks / Chicago Blackhawks Western Conference Semifinal series, starting on Thursday April 30 and the Washington / Pittsburgh Penguins Eastern Conference Semifinal series, beginning Saturday, May 2.
 
CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA opens Round Two on Thursday, April 30 at 8:30 p.m. ET, with a special edition of Scotiabank Hockey Tonight, followed by the Vancouver Canucks and team captain Roberto Luongo facing off against rising star Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks at GM Place. Jim Hughson will call this Western Conference Semifinal best-of-seven series alongside analyst Craig Simpson, while Scott Oake reports from ice level. 
 
The Eastern Conference Semifinal series between Washington and Pittsburgh gets underway on CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m. ET when two of the NHL’s biggest stars, Alexander Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby continue their quest for the Stanley Cup. Play-by-play man Bob Cole and analyst Greg Millen will call the series, as Elliotte Friedman reports from rinkside. (Please see below for complete Round Two broadcast schedule).
 
Each night during Round Two, Ron MacLean hosts CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA coverage of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs along with Don Cherry, Kelly Hrudey, Mike Milbury and P.J. Stock. Cherry will cover the Vancouver / Chicago series while Hrudey, Milbury and Stock will join MacLean in-studio throughout the second round to provide insight and analysis of all the Conference Semifinal series.  
 
CBC’s exclusive Punjabi broadcasts continue in Round Two, featuring the Vancouver / Chicago series, live and on demand at CBCSports.ca.  The Punjabi broadcasts will be available free to Bell TV subscribers on channel 249; to Rogers digital cable subscribers in Ontario and New Brunswick on channel 401;to Shaw Digital Cable subscribers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba on channel 333 and to Shaw Direct subscribers on channel 478. Parminder Singh, voice of CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA regular season Punjabi broadcasts will handle play-by-play duties while Harnarayan Singh, will provide analysis.
 
CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA also presents Stanley Cup Interactive on CBCSports.ca throughout the entire 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Hall of Fame journalist, Scott Morrison and HNIC Sirius Satellite Radio host, Jeff Marek host live chats with hockey fans across the country from the Stanley Cup I-Desk during all 2009 Stanley Cup Playoff games broadcast on CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA. Hockey Night in Canada Radio on SIRIUS will also offer comprehensive coverage of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs on SIRIUS Satellite Radio’s Channel 122 airing Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. ET (encore presentation from 7-10 p.m. ET). Host Jeff Marek will be joined by CBC’S HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA personalities and other guests throughout the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

    Well not quite true… This Canadian living in the States would LOVE to be able to watch HNIC during the playoffs but can’t… 😦
