Is there a serious hockey fan who can defend Versus use of Joe Beninati? The contrast between his goofy play by play with that of Chris Cuthbert who’s doing the Calgary Chicago game is amazing…

  2. nosferatu says:

“Game 3 of our doubleheader coming up next on Versus…”

Yup, that about spells out the logic of this whole night on Versus.

  3. Chris says:

Joe Beninati is hands down THE WORST NHL play-by-play there is. Chris Cuthbert only ranks 2nd best behind Jim Hughson, IMO.

  4. jkrdevil says:

Hmm, interesting I believe this is the first time versus is simulcasting a local feed of a game rather than the CBC or TSN feed.

Fortunatly it is the Sharks’ feed and Hahn and Remenda are a solid team.

  5. Trizent says:

WOnder if it was because CBC feed was or wasn’t HD or if it was because Comcast owns VS. and CSN Bay Area?

  6. Leafsfan1967 says:

CBC feed of the late game was supposed to be HD. I guess they couldn’t bring themselves to show two Canadian feeds in one night.

  7. BC says:

It would be nice if NHLN in the US could broadcast the CBC games once in a while. The commentators on VS/NBC are insufferable, except for maybe one or two of the “new” guys. I don’t even know their names, but I imagine soon I will because they are going to learn to make a mess of things like the “big boys”.

    I couldn’t agree more.

  9. SonicAD says:

Trizent, I think that’s exactly why. It’s gotta be cheaper to use their in-house feed than to bring one in from another network.
