From the Department of “Oh, c’mon, you gotta be kidding me!”: NBC Takes Pens-Flyers March 22nd

Sigh.  From NHL.com:

One of the best rivalries in the NHL will be played on a national stage on March 22.

NBC has announced that it will televise the “Battle of Pennsylvania” showdown on March 22, when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins at 12:30 p.m. The Pens are red hot as of late, as they’ve won their last six games to climb right into the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Oh yeah, so exciting.  The Penguins and Flyers… again.  Should be a real rager.  We can’t even compose the sarcasm for this…

The autopilot NBC Schedule for the rest of the season is after the jump.

March 15th, 12:30 PM
Philadelphia vs. NY Rangers

March 22nd, 12:30 PM
Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh

April 5th, 12:30 PM
Minnesota vs. Detroit

April 12th, 2:00 PM
Detroit vs. Chicago

This is actually a meaningful game for both teams. Good move. Hopefully they’ve given up on the Rangers like everyone else has

I don’t understand why everyone is down on Philly-Pitt. There is more emotion and energy in that rivalry then any other one in the league. Two playoff teams with big stakes on the line and in front of those crazy Flyers fans. I would watch this game before any of the other options any day of the week.

Although NJ-BOS would have been just a good as choice, I don’t see anything wrong with this as it will be a meaningful game as kevin mentioned.

  4. Langer says:

    Philly, Rangers, Pens, rinse, repeat.

NJ-BOS should bill as a bigger game, but we’re always told the Devils are boring.

EDM-MIN is also an important game, but we’re to assume no one knows where Edmonton is.
