Too bad the NHL has a minimum of 3 players on the ice for a team rule. I would pay to see the Rangers give up a 2-on-5 goal.

  2. BluesFan44 says:

I was at the game, so I was spared the dulcet tones of Joe Benihana…………

Nice guy, I’ve heard. But man, he’s almost unlistenable……. sure wish Versus would do what it took ($$$, perhaps?) to bring in Doc Emrick more often…………

  3. Leafsfan1967 says:

I’m sure JB is a nice guy but to say he is unlistenable is an understatement. there are so many good play by play guys north and south of the boarder so WHY does Verus use him soooooooooooooooooo much………………….

  4. BluesFan44 says:

Agreed 67. Versus shoulda ponied up the dough and hired a guy like Chris Cuthbert, maybe even a guy like Dean Brown or at the very least attempted to get Gary Thorne. Your announcer stable is the voice and credibility of your network, and Benihana ain’t cuttin’ it. They need their “own” guy or guys, not just whatever local guy was free (and cheap) that night….

Wonder how much cash it’d take to rescue Howie Rose from the Island? 😉

  5. BluesFan44 says:

Oh yeah — and Bill Clement not having a national color analyst job in hockey is just absolutely criminal. I think he’s the #1 color guy not only in hockey, but in all of North American sports…

  6. Leafsfan1967 says:

If Versus would change some of their on air talent they would have more credibility and just possibly they might get higher ratings.

  7. Mike in Idaho says:

I think Versus needs to change their behind the scenes crew more than the announcers. I didn’t watch this particular game but every Versus game I have seen this season has too many closeups and the camera is so zoomed in you can’t even get an idea of where a player with the puck might be able to pass to.
