To Finish Your Thursday, Sirius/XM’s All-Star Coverage

 

NEW YORK (January 22, 2009) – SIRIUS XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today that it will offer hockey fans comprehensive coverage of 2009 NHL All-Star Weekend with live play-by-play of the NHL All-Star Game and the NHL Superskills Competition plus daily talk programming from Montreal, Quebec today, January 22 through Sunday, January 25 on NHL Home Ice, the only 24-hour radio channel dedicated to the NHL.

NHL Home Ice, which is available nationwide on XM channel 204 and on SIRIUS channel 208 with the “Best of XM” programming package, will carry the live play-by-play broadcast of the 57th NHL All-Star Game this Sunday, January 25 (6:00 pm ET) when the Eastern and Western Conference All Stars face off at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

NHL Home Ice also will carry live coverage of the NHL Superskills Competition on Saturday, January 24 (7:00 pm ET), which features some of the NHL’s top talents competing in six events including the NHL Hardest Shot Competition, the NHL Fan Fav Breakaway Challenge, the NHL YoungStars Game, the NHL Fastest Skater competition, the NHL Accuracy Shooting competition and the NHL Elimination Shootout.

From today through Sunday, January 25, NHL Home Ice will broadcast live each day from the All-Star Jamboree, the official fan festival across from Bell Centre. Special live guests will include members of the Eastern Conference and Western Conference All-Stars and the NHL Young Stars, plus NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, Montreal Canadiens President Pierre Boivin, NHL Alumni President Mark Napier and many others.

Listeners also will hear daily commentary and analysis from a lineup of expert hosts on NHL Home Ice that includes Hall of Famer Phil Esposito, former Washington Capitals coach Gary Green, Scott LaughlinMike Ross, Joe Thistel, Adam Proteau, Bill Clement and Don LaGreca, host of NHL Radio’s NHL LIVE.

As the Official Satellite Radio Partner of the NHL, SIRIUS XM broadcasts NHL games live nationwide from the preseason through the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
