So, Kings fans who live across the street from the Staples Center will probably be watching the game being called by announcers who are kinda-sorta rooting for the other team.
Also, CBC will literally be the only organization producing a broadcast of the game, and the boards are probably going to say “Stanley Cup Playoffs | NBC Sports Network”.
I just find it odd that NBC Sports Network couldn’t be arsed to produce a broadcast of a game in the United States that won’t be blacked out in a US team’s home market when, if I remember right, said US team could clinch the series. You couldn’t even bring in the Kings’ normal announcers? (Although I’d bet they’re probably better off with the announcers from the enemy’s country…)
Haven’t you heard about the outrageous new tax put on media production companies crossing west over the Mississippi??
(Seriously, though, I’ll take CBC and CSN-California any day over NBCSN crews. Two words: Brian. Hayward.)
I had never heard Brian Hayward before the playoffs. He is awful. Even if you ignore his pro-Rangers bias, he’s not even good enough to do AHL, much less NHL. He keeps rambling about how the refs are calling it tight, but that only applies to penalties against Ottawa.
You should try to watch a Ducks broadcast with Hayward. Unbelievably insufferable and just about as bad a homer as there is out there.
Hayward actually used to work for CBC back in the day, believe it or not. He did some playoff games around 10 years ago, IIRC.

This is surely an odd situation.
It will be nice for CBC to get North American wide exposure! Just a shame NBC doesn’t show the CBC opening with the late great Foster Hewitt saying “Hello Canada and Hockey fans in the United States and Newfoundland!”
NBC won’t show the anthems especially from Ottawa. An anthem partially in French — NBC might be scared to show that (sarcasm)..
