NBC Will Air Two Doubleheaders During the Conference Quarterfinals

NBC appears headed toward providing their most extensive Stanley Cup Playoff coverage ever, based on just their slate for the Conference Quarterfinals.

The network will air not one, but two doubleheaders during the first round of the NHL’s postseason. As previously announced, they will air one on April 15th. Today, it was revealed that they will air one – if necessary – on April 22nd, featuring games at Noon ET and 3 p.m. ET once again. NBC’s six national telecasts during the Conference Quarterfinal marks the start of what appears to be the most (not counting regional broadcasts) comprehensive coverage of the playoffs ever on broadcast television.

The networks of NBC Universal (NBC, NBC Sports Network, CNBC, NHL Network) will air every game of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs nationally, a first on American television.

One Response to NBC Will Air Two Doubleheaders During the Conference Quarterfinals

  1. Dave says:

Can there be any disputing that the NHL made the right choice in staying with NBC? If only NBC could’ve gotten the NCAA tournament… I wonder if ESPN would sell that part of their NCAA rights. They certainly don’t seem to want it very much, just judging by their coverage.
