Thanks to Sports Media Watchfor the following info:
The Stanley Cup Final is scheduled to take on the NBA Finals head-to-head for the second straight year.
Game 2 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Final is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, June 6 at 8 PM ET on NBC, the same night and time as Game 2 of the NBA Finals on ABC. Meanwhile, Game 5 of the series is set for Sunday, June 13 at 6 PM ET on NBC, the same night as Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
Game 1 – Saturday, June 5th, 8:00 PM (NBC)
Game 2 – Sunday, June 6th, 8:00 PM (NBC)
Game 3 – Tuesday, June 8th, 8:00 PM (VERSUS)
Game 4 – Thursday, June 10th, 8:00 PM (VERSUS)
Game 5 – Sunday, June 13th, 6:00 PM (NBC)
Game 6 – Wednesday, June 16th, 8:00 PM (NBC)
Game 7 – Friday, June 18th, 8:00 PM (NBC)
Sunday games should be 4 pm starts…problem solved. What is so bad about playing afternoon games in the Final? Everybody knocks the NBA and MLB for late start times. This would bring some good vibes for the NHL
If the Stanley Cup finals ended at the end of May like they were supposed too, then there would be no issues. They drag this thing out.
I like the Saturday/Sunday start, but the 2nd week, has NBC written all over it. Yikes, they drag it out too long.
You can’t put hockey on in prime time in May. It’s a “sweeps” rating period. It has to be June if you want to see the NHL on national TV. They could move it up a few days though to avoid the NBA Finals. I like the Sat/Sun schedule though. Obviously NBC likes it too. They won the nightly ratings almost every nite during last years Final
um…who cares about the nba finals its all about hockey! lets go sharks!!
With the conference finals slated to end no later than SAT 29 MAY, is NBC still planning on a schedule for the finals to start with a game one a week later on SAT 5 JUN ? A week or more of a layoff seems to be a bad idea, especially if the Flyers and Blackhawks get their business done post haste by TUE 25 MAY.
If they Flyers win tonight – are the Finals still gonna start in June? Seems like a long delay…
