NBC: We’ll Air USA-Switzerland in it’s Entirety

There’s been some fear, mostly started over at Kukla’s Korner, about whether or not NBC will air all of USA-Switzerland in the men’s hockey quarterfinals, as the game as been scheduled for a 3:00-5:00 PM ET timeslot.
Well, frankly I felt it was irrational to think that they wouldn’t from the start, but I understand hockey fans being mistrusting of the network after some of the things that have happened during the tournament.
A representative from NBC told Puck the Media last night that the game will be aired in it’s entirety. I worded the question specifically to include potential overtime and shootouts. So our long, national nightmare is over. Now go cause a stir about the Gold Medal Game being scheduled for tape delay on the west coast.

To NBC’s credit, they’re slowly starting to get it.
It’ll be interesting to see how this translates into their treatment of the NHL. With a pure profit-sharing arrangement instead of a rights fee, one would think that the Peacock Network would be hyping the NHL beyond belief. Nothing but upside for both sides – if both sides embrace that there’s no ceiling on the popularity of the sport.
this doesn’t show that they get it. If they have a live competition in their daytime show, they’d see it through to the end. We know they do it with their primetime show.
But it is good to hear NBC say that they will show the game in its entirety (well, we expect to miss a faceoff or two for a commercial, though they’ve had USA games commercial free).

Not to mention some of the things that happened before horse racing pre-game shows.
Here’s a question, if the US wins today and Canada loses, is there any chance the semi-final game will be played at 6:30PT?
It would be a great opportunity to put the game in prime time on NBC? THere is not much going on that night since figure skating will be over?
So here I am in So Cal, just canceled my US hockey lunch with my brother and some friends cuz I just learned the game will be shown at 3:00 ON TAPE DELAY!!! How is this possible? What does starting it at 3:00 accomplish? PEOPLE ARE STILL AT WORK AT 3:00 ON THE WEST COAST NBC!
And by the way, you’re not serious about the Gold Medal game being schedule for tape delay on the west coast are you??!!
