Coming Soon To the NHL Network: More Radio on TV
November 6, 2009 3 Comments
We love NHL Live, it’s usually dependent on the host of the day, but the show ultimately entertains us most afternoons when we see it. So, NHL Network thinks, why don’t we add some more radio simulcasting to it’s network during those dull mid-day hours where they could be airing a re-run of a radio simulcast. They’ve added XM Home Ice’s Scott Laughlin-hosted “The Power Play”. If you, like me, have never heard the show, here is your description from Home Ice’s Website:
Scott Laughlin shares the spotlight with one of the world’s leading hockey shrines and takes listeners on an end to end rush of hockey excitement. Hockey’s greatest names – players, coaches, general managers and legends – come together to deliver the most comprehensive hockey program in radio history all right from the floor of Wayne Gretzky’s Restaurant in downtown Toronto. You never know who is going to drop in to give us the ‘man advantage’ but you can be assured, it will be entertaining, informative and always on the net.
Tell us what to expect, readership.
great more radio stuff ;(. I think NHL LIVE is dull. I actually dont mind the power play though. They should have the war room too. Then Id cancel my xm subscription. Seriously, what the NEtwork needs is:
Better Talent for on the FLY. Better topics to discuss. Some good healthy debate. Not being politcal and staying away from the NHL franchise issues or attendance issues. MLB Net isnt shy about baseball issues.
Pregame show with US talent / faces. JOhn Buccigross or Steve Levy. An NHL ALL Access type show like a sportscenter feel covering all the stories.
A US NHL NETWORK STUDIO for the pregame show that out shines the NBA/NFL/MLB Network studio.
The side ticker should be displayed when on the fly is on since it is not in hd.
The side ticker needs league leader stats that include goalies.
Small tighter bottom scroll ticker.
list the MST time zone if your going to display the time. Move it to the left hand side.
More NHL NEtwork documentries.
I’m not a huge fan of NHL Live. EJ Hradek is too much to handle watching for 20 minutes let alone 2 hours. But if this show if entertaining, why not?
Scott is great! I enjoy the radio show.
