Things We Haven’t Been Paying Attention To: The NHL Net’s New Logo

Yesterday was CBC day, today is NHL Net day. What does everyone think of the NHL Network’s new logo? We hadn’t seen much of it because we don’t get the channel at school. It’s not bad, it distances you from the idea that the NHL has complete editorial control over the network. But still, the old one seemed pretty simple and classy. What do you all think?

the old one was a form of the NHL’s official logo (you can see it for now on Wikipedia – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_Network_(United_States)).
but you’re right, this does look like one of OLN’s old logos.
I think this is hideous. NBATV, MLB Network, and NFL Network all use a form of the league’s official logo in their network’s logos. The NHL Network did. This looks like they’re not even trying in the design room.
You know how when you get used to a certain design for YEARS and it becomes boring to your eyes? Well, eventually that happened to us with the previous NHL Logo to an extent…
However, if you grab someone who had never seen either logo I think he/she would automatically pick the previous design and not the new one.
So what I’m saying is, its nice to see something new but I think this one will get boring quickly.
The old logo actually looked like a hockey puck, [now there's a novel idea]!!!!
This one is ok although it lookls a little bit like the old OLN logo. I hope this isn’t yet another sign of Comcast taking over the world and only allowing Comcast customers to see their channels….
Removing the shield aka the brand symbol for the NHL is stupid and unwise.
The new logo doesn’t work, everyone who mentioned that it should have the NHL symbol on there are right. The shame is the new crawl for the network is better, though still a little big.
I just noticed the new bottom line. that is much better. It would be nice if they only ran it during NHL On The Fly, and not during classic games, non-game programming, or during the off-season. I can see how the new logo (which now has a black background instead of blue) fits in a bit better. haven’t watched too much because the NHL Center Ice free preview (3+ weeks) hasn’t ended yet.
