Center Ice Free Preview to Last Season’s First Three Weeks; Shot at DirecTV?It

From TVPredictions.com:

Here’s more bad news for DIRECTV subscribers who love hockey in high-def.

InDemand, the distributor of pay packages to cable operators, said today that it will extend its free preview of the NHL Center Ice hockey package by three weeks to cable operators.

That means that subscribers to Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Bright House Networks, Cablevision Systems, Bresnan Communications and Midcontinent will be able to watch up to 12 games a week for free in HD during the three week preview.

It also states that DirecTV viewers will presumably only be getting one week.  Cable has fired a pretty good shot at DirecTV it seems.  We’ll see if this deal can get done.

DirecTV is doing exactly the same thing…..

One thing that DirecTV has had in the past is many more dual feeds than InDemand has had, although the real dual feed winner is Dish Network….

Was announced on Canadian providers a good month ago that preview was going to be longer than just a week.

Why do I have the impression that this otherwise great website has become an official spokesperson for ConCr@p, their channel Versus and a place to kick DirecTV?

It’s funny to think that, as Verizon users, we have an opinion either way. We just want a deal done.

  5. leafsfan1967 says:

Oh I agree I want a deal done and I’m not happy this is happening….

….but when I see a headline about an extended preview for NHLCI and asking the question “Shot at DirecTV? when DirecTV has EXACTLY the same offer, I wonder. I am also troubled when I see the one sided NHL official spin on this pushed rather than getting both sides of the story….

Let’s face it this dispute is yet another black eye for hockey. Rather than picking sides lets hope it gets fixed and fixed soon.
