Your Morning Music Breakdown

It’s Wednesday.  Based on our calendars for last year, it should be TV schedule day, but we’ve received no word from the NHL that it will be.  So who knows.

Anyway, we’ll try and keep you posted as much as humanly possible.  Don’t touch that dial.  I’d keep us bookmarked if I were you.

Let’s get going with today.  Everybody on the existential carousel.

VERSUS’ Plan for September: Show Edited Versions of Really Awesome Movies

VERSUS has a September of college football, IRL and PBR.  Unfortunately for them, all of those are weekend sports, so they need s0me stuff to fill the gaps during the week.  So they’ll be airing amazing cult films like Slap Shot and The Big Lebowski.  Here are the premiere dates:

  • The Big Lebowski: Sept. 1, 8PM
  • Hoosiers: Sept. 6, 5PM
  • Bull Durham: Sept. 7, 7PM
  • Blue Chips: Sept. 14, 8PM
  • Slap Shot:  Sept. 28, 8PM

Your Morning Music Breakdown

Good morning.  What do we have for you today?

You’ll see.  Perhaps one more crack at predicting the TV schedule.

Now, on with the day, from the start.

Should Patrick Kane Be Dropped From the Cover of NHL 10?

This photo suddenly became awkward.

Craig Custance is one of our favorite hockey writers.  He has this for us on Twitter:

Got an e-mail from EA Sports – they’re aware of Kane incident but have no comment at this time.  Right now, he’s cover of NHL10.

There you go.  A somewhat similar incident can be seen on the cover of NHL 2004.  Dany Heatley was scheduled to be the cover boy, and many copies were sent to stores of it too.  But then Joe Sakic replaced him after the incident with Heatley.  We think it’d probably be best if EA did the same with Kane, especially now that there’s a chance to rectify the situation before the game ships.  Why not go with Jonathan Toews or someone safer at this point?  What’s your opinion?

Your Morning Music Breakdown

annnnnnnnd… we’re back.

Its TV Schedule week, ya’ll!  We finally have something to do.

Also, we have a really exciting roundtable on what Jeremy Roenick should do next with a few of our friends from the blogosphere and perhaps a real life TV personality from the NHL.

But, for now, on with the day.  Everyone’s a winner.

The Best of Puck the Media: Interviews

(Ed. Note: And here we are at the end of the week.  The NHL has some fantastic announcers, and we’ve interviewed many of them this year.  Here are some of our favorite answers.  See you on Monday.  Hey!  New material then!)

The Best of Puck the Media: In Which We Betray Our Angry Readership

(Ed. Note: Welcome to the last of the lazy installments of “Best of” for this week.  They will return in late August/early September when we restart school, but this is it for the weak ones.  Tomorrow, it’s a compilation of our best interview segments.  That will be a doozy.  Here’s us on why airing Sports Soup after a Stanley Cup Final game didn’t make us that mad.)

The Best of Puck the Media: Wrap Slow Jams Sean Avery on Late Night

(Welcome to today’s installment of our self-indulgent retrospective.  We felt it only right to feature something from Wrap Around Curl, our fantastic contributor.  Here’s her piece from June on Sean Avery’s appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  The video is gone due to a copyright claim by NBC, but we’ll repost the great recap of it anyways.)

The Best of Puck the Media: Our Case Against ESPN

(Welcome to the second edition of our retrospective.  This piece about ESPN’s treatment of the NHL still gets linked to, 8 months after its’ original posting.  We like to think it showed people that we weren’t messing around here.  We probably still haven’t convinced you.)
