Report: Could NBC Actually Be Airing a Decent Game in the Near Future?

Hey, Tom Gulitti from the Bergen Record and Fire & Ice has some info for us again:
It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it appears likely that NBC will televise the Devils’ game on March 22 in Boston, which would shift the start from 3 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
February 22, 12:30 PM
Pittsburgh vs. Washington
March 8, 12:30 PM
Boston vs. NY Rangers
March 15, 12:30 PM
Boston vs. Pittsburgh
March 22, 12:30 PM
New Jersey vs. Boston
April 5, 12:30 PM
Minnesota vs. Detroit
April 12, 2:00 PM
NY Rangers vs. Philadelphia OR
Detroit vs. Chicago OR
St. Louis vs. Colorado OR
Boston vs. NY Islanders
It would be nice to have a good game for once. Outside of the Winter Classic they have been dogs. That’s what showing Pitt and NYR every week will get you. Those teams suck.
“Report: Could NBC Actually Be Airing a Decent Game in the Near Future?”
Not until they show the Sharks, the best team in the NHL (they’ve got games in hand on the Bruins).
Frankly I’m shocked that there isn’t continued outrage that the Sharks have NEVER had one appearance on the regular season on NBC since NBC moved to one National Game of the Week, yet the Sharks have been a top 5 team in the NHL during that span AND are arguably the top team in the NHL.
Instead of praising NBC for the continued east coast bias (and yes, having a NATIONAL game at 9:30 am pacific shutting out the most populous state in the union is east coast bias), there should be continued outrage over not showing the US hockey world the San Jose Sharks, such as the Sharks/Devils game that was snubbed last Sunday which was a classic.
Need I remind you all of the highest rated game EVER on Versus? It was Sharks at Bruins on Feb. 10. People want to see good teams, but NBC only wants to show good teams from the East (and Detroit, which is practically East).
I guarantee you 75% of all the hockey fans in the US live east on the Mississippi. It’s not NBC’s job to “grow the audience”. They just want to make sure somebody is watching.
